Beautiful Work Deserves a Beautiful Website

Ellie is a family photographer based in The New Forest who does beautiful work – couples, families, newborns, the whole range. But her website was letting her down. It looked generic and wasn’t helping her get found by local families searching for a photographer.

She wanted something brighter and cleaner that would actually show up in Google searches. More importantly, she needed it to feel like her – warm and approachable, not just another cookie-cutter photography site.

What Needed to Change

The main issues were pretty clear: poor SEO meant she wasn’t getting found locally, the design didn’t reflect her style, and the user experience wasn’t great for her target audience of families and couples.

She needed a website that would work better on mobile (where most people browse), showcase her portfolio properly, and make it easy for potential clients to get in touch.

Beyond just looking prettier (though that was definitely on the list), Ellie needed a website that would:

Actually get found by families searching for photographers in Hampshire
Feel bright, welcoming, and uncluttered – just like her approach
Work brilliantly on phones (because let’s be honest, that’s where most mums are browsing)
Show off her gorgeous portfolio without any distractions
Make it easy for families to get in touch and book sessions

Basically, she wanted something that felt as lovely as the moments she captures.

How We Made It Happen

Platform Migration – Moved from WIX to WordPress for better customisation and SEO capabilities. I built the new site on a temporary domain so her existing site stayed live throughout the process.

Visual Refresh – Created a brighter, more welcoming design with pastels and cleaner typography that better reflected Ellie’s approach and appealed to families.

Local SEO Setup – Implemented proper SEO foundations so local families could actually find her when searching for photographers in Hampshire.

Improved User Experience – Reorganised the layout and navigation to make it easier for visitors to find what they need, whether that’s checking out family sessions or booking a consultation.

Mobile Optimisation – Made sure everything worked perfectly on phones and tablets, with fast loading times and easy navigation.

Portfolio Showcase – Organised her work strategically so visitors can quickly see examples of the type of photography they’re interested in.

Trust Elements – Featured client reviews and industry recognition to build credibility with potential clients.

The new website performs much better for Ellie’s business. It gets found by local searches, converts visitors into enquiries, and actually represents the quality of her work.
