Farmtoyz came to me looking for a fun, easy-to-navigate online store where they could showcase their selection of farm and agriculture-themed toys. The site needed to be playful but still professional, with a smooth shopping experience that would appeal to both parents and kids. We also needed to make sure the site could grow with them as they add more toys to their lineup.

Beyond just looking good, Shane and Colleen needed a website that would:

Showcase their products in a way that captured the fun factor
Make shopping straightforward for busy parents
Work perfectly on phones since that’s where most browsing happens
Be easy for them to manage and update as they added new toys
Help them build a customer base through email marketing
Actually get found by people searching for farm toys online

The challenge was creating something playful without being chaotic, and professional without being boring.

About:

Farm-Themed Toy Store: Farmtoyz specialises in farm-themed toys—think toy tractors, ride on diggers, and everything in between! They wanted a site that not only highlighted the quality of their products but also made shopping fun. We set out to build a Shopify store that reflects their love for farming and the joy that these toys bring to kids and parents alike.

The store required more than just a functional e-commerce site—it needed to be a memorable experience that reflects the joy and educational value of the products. I worked closely with Farmtoyz to design a Shopify site that brought this vision to life while ensuring it remained easy to manage on the back end.

What I did

Shopify Foundation - Built their store on Shopify for the solid e-commerce features, but customised everything to match their brand personality rather than looking like every other online shop.
Theme Customisation: To give the site that perfect farm feel, we customised a free Shopify theme, adding fun graphics and bright, inviting colors. We kept things simple and kid-friendly with easy-to-read fonts and a clean layout.
Optimised Product Pages: Each toy gets its own product page with big, high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and an easy way to select different categories, like age range or type of toy. We made sure it’s easy for customers to find what they’re looking for.
Mobile-Friendly Design: We made sure the site works just as smoothly on mobile phones as it does on desktop. Whether shoppers are browsing from their couch or on the go, the experience is always seamless and fun.
User-Friendly Shopping Experience: We carefully mapped out the shopping journey to make it as easy as possible—from browsing to checkout. The navigation is straightforward, and there are handy filters to help users find exactly what they need, whether they’re searching by toy type, price, or age.
Social Media & Newsletter Integration: To help Farmtoyz stay connected with customers, we added a newsletter pop-up and embedded signup forms throughout the site. We also linked their social media profiles so visitors can easily follow them on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
First-Time Order Discount: We implemented a system where customers can get 5% off their first order when they sign up for the mailing list, helping to encourage new visitors to make a purchase.
Gift Vouchers: We set up online gift vouchers so customers can purchase these for birthdays or special occasions—adding more flexibility and options for shoppers.
Search Engine Optimisation: We optimised the website for search engines by improving product descriptions, meta tags, and other SEO best practices to help Farmtoyz rank better on Google and bring in more traffic organically.

Shane and Colleen now have a online store that genuinely reflects their enthusiasm for farm toys while making it easy for customers to shop. The site captures that sense of fun and learning that these toys bring, without getting in the way of actually making purchases.

The site is set up to grow with their business, with systems in place for adding new products, building their customer base, and managing everything without needing a computer science degree.

Good e-commerce isn’t just about having a cart and checkout – it’s about understanding how your customers actually shop and what they need from the experience. For Farmtoyz, that meant balancing fun with functionality, and making sure parents could find the right toys for their kids without any hassle.
