Creating a Safe Space for Style Rediscovery
Nicci came to me with a challenge that’s actually quite common in the personal styling world – how do you create an online presence that feels warm and approachable rather than intimidating? She’s a personal stylist and colour analyst based in Dorset, and her whole approach is about empowering women to rediscover their confidence through style.
Many of her ideal clients are women in their 30s to 60s who’ve lost touch with their personal style and feel a bit uncertain about reaching out for help. Nicci needed a website that would reassure them this was a safe, welcoming space, not another pretentious styling service that would make them feel judged.
What Nicci Needed
Nicci’s brief was refreshingly honest: she wanted something “warm and friendly” that avoided feeling “generic, pretentious, or in-your-face.” She needed a website that would:
- Make her services clear without being overwhelming
- Put a friendly face to her brand
- Reassure potential clients that she creates a judgment-free zone
- Appeal to women who might be feeling uncertain about their style
Essentially, she wanted her website to feel like that supportive friend who helps you feel confident about trying something new.
Building Trust Through Design
- Platform Upgrade – Moved her from WIX to WordPress.org to give us the flexibility needed to create something truly custom that reflected her approach.
- Thoughtful Brand Integration – Wove her existing branding throughout the site in a way that felt cohesive but never overwhelming. Her logo, colors, and fonts all work together to create that warm, approachable feeling she was after.
- Performance Focused – Optimised all images for quick loading because nobody wants to wait around, especially when they're already feeling a bit nervous about reaching out.
- Mobile-First Approach – Made sure everything looks welcoming and functions perfectly whether someone's browsing on their phone during their lunch break or researching from their laptop at home.
- Connection Building – Set up an email subscription box so Nicci can share style tips and stay connected with people who aren't quite ready to book yet but want to learn more.
- Social Integration – Connected her Instagram so visitors can see more of her work and get a better sense of her personality and styling approach.
The Result
The website genuinely reflects who Nicci is – professional and knowledgeable, but approachable and encouraging. It gives potential clients all the information they need while creating that crucial sense of trust and safety.
