The brief:

A full redesign for a wedding and fun family photography website.

C Y Wild Photography wanted me to create a happy, cozy and vibrant vibe with interactive elements to show off some of her personality. The primary focus was to ensure the website’s user-friendliness while prominently showcasing her photography portfolio and providing a seamless booking experience for potential clients.

About:

C Y Wild Photography, is a candid style wedding and family photographer based in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire and captures “real weddings, real emotions and real moments”.

Carly approached me seeking a complete overhaul of her website. Her previous site was described as “dated, busy, and clunky,” plagued by constant crashes and an overwhelming number of user-unfriendly pages. The menu’s functionality was limited to mobile devices, leading to a challenging navigation experience. Consequently, most clients discovered her through referrals rather than via her website.

She wanted a website to reflect her “larger than life” personality and fun photography style. She desired something that exuded a happy and cosy vibe, going beyond the previous website’s constraints and facilitating easy session bookings for potential clients.

What I did

Full Website Reconstruction: We made the decision to start anew, completely letting go the previous website and creating a fresh one from the ground up. This involved adopting a new platform, domain name, and hosting services. With this transformation, we bid farewell to the old brand identity, paving the way for an enhanced and revitalised online presence.
Improved User Experience: Refined the site layout for enhanced user-friendliness, simplifying navigation and enabling visitors to swiftly access the information they seek. Enhanced image sizes and optimized load times to ensure a smoother browsing experience with faster page loading.
Refreshed Branding: While maintaining the foundational sage green, I revamped the colour scheme by integrating warm yellows and deeper greens. This blend aimed to infuse a cheerful and snug ambiance, enhancing the website's overall appeal. Incorporated a script font to infuse a personalized touch into the website, aiming to create a cohesive and unified look across every page.
Improved Imagery: Utilised Carly's high quality imagery to display her portfolio and highlight her work. Placed images strategically throughout the site to create visual appeal and connect with visitors.
Enhanced Navigation Menu: Simplified the menu structure by removing unnecessary items, resulting in a cleaner and easier-to-navigate layout. Introduced dropdown menus for categories or sub-pages, organizing related content more logically and decluttering the main menu for improved user experience.
Call-to-Action (CTA) Implementation: Placed prominent and clear CTAs strategically across the website to effectively guide visitors, prompting them to take specific actions such as reaching out, booking sessions, or exploring portfolios.
Added Contact Form: Previously, the contact form on the website directed users to an external platform. I integrated a Studio Ninja contact form directly into this website, offering visitors the convenience of getting in touch without leaving the site.
Mobile-Friendly Design: Ensured the website's full responsiveness and optimization for various mobile devices, guaranteeing a smooth and enjoyable browsing experience regardless of screen size or device used.
Showcasing Reviews - Featured positive client reviews throughout the website to underscore Carly's expertise and professionalism, reinforcing credibility and fostering trust among potential clients.
Search Engine Optimisation: Essential SEO features were implemented to enhance the website's visibility and search engine rankings, enabling better discoverability on platforms like Google.
